  • Students are required to use mBlock 5 software to program projects

COMPETITION SCHEDULE:

  • 25 Oct - 7 Nov: Project Submission

  • 8 Nov - 21 Nov: Project Assessment

  • 22 Nov - 24 Nov: Results Announcement

  • 6 Dec: Awards Ceremony

 

PRIZES & AWARDS:

  • Young All-Rounder:

    • Winners will receive: an e-certificate, one Young All-Rounder Medal, and one CyberPi Go Kit (U.P. SGD100)

  • Excellent Mentor / Excellent Organization:

    • Awardees will receive: an e-certificate and one mBot2 (U.P. SGD200).

  • Special Awards Winner: ​

    • Each special awarded winner (Young Designer, Young Innovator, Young Engineer, Best Demonstration) will receive an e-certificate.

  • Not-awarded Participants

    • Contestants who have not won any awards will receive a certificate of participation for their efforts.

BACKGROUND

 

MakeX Spark is an innovation competition program for young people aged 6-13.

The competition includes online and onsite competition formats. Contestants are encouraged to use a variety of materials to design and build their projects.

 

Through project-based learning, contestants boost their imagination and creativity, and combined with critical thinking and research of a real-world issue, contestants are improving their cross-disciplinary problem-solving skills. Also, the contestants’ skills in expression, collaboration, and cooperation can be enhanced through project demonstration.

Theme:「 Infinite life 」

The United Nations General Assembly designated 22 April as International Mother Earth Day through a resolution adopted in 2009. In the pursuit of harmony between human beings and nature, International Mother Earth Day is designed to further promote the sustainable development of human beings and nature by formulating standards for sustainable development and exchanging experiences of countries that meet the standards.

 

With the development of science and technology as well as innovation, human beings will empower the earth with growing vitality!

The participating team will need to focus on the specific theme and devise a solution through software programming and hardware construction. The solution will be a demonstration project and a poster with topics including research, design-thinking process, construction scheme, and outcome summary. 

Contestants should use mBlock 5 to program projects. The hardware is not limited. Recommended hardwares are as following.
